Sabbatical Planning Program

Guidance before, during, and after your sabbatical, so you can plan intentionally, adjust as things evolve, and use this time for both renewal and reflection on what comes next.

Most sabbaticals are done alone, but they don’t have to be.

Many people plan and move through sabbatical on their own, and only begin to process it all once it’s over. This program offers a different approach, supporting your independence without leaving you to figure everything out alone. You’ll have clear guidance as you design your sabbatical, support while you’re in it, and space to think about what comes next, plus ongoing live sessions for perspective, accountability, and conversation with others along the way.

Planning a sabbatical often raises questions like:

  • How do I balance rest with meaningful professional direction?
  • Should I travel (and where, for how long, and when)?
  • How can I structure time so it’s not wasted?
  • How do I make space to reflect on what comes next?
  • How can I explore new interests or ways of thinking?

This program helps you work through questions like these with structure and support.

Why I created this program

I’m Liz, a tenured professor who has navigated multiple forms of academic leave. I created the Sabbatical Planning Program after seeing how little support and structure exist around sabbaticals and career breaks – and how often we’re left to figure it out alone. This program helps you take a meaningful sabbatical that fits your life, with room to adapt as things change, and support along the way.
