Ongoing Support

A thought partner for your sabbatical, time away, and what comes next

Ongoing support for academics who want time and space to reflect, explore possibilities, and make intentional decisions about their work and future, with guidance from someone who has been there.

Sometimes the hardest part of stepping away is utilizing the space for what you need most.

Most academics are used to moving from one goal to the next – publish, teach, serve, advance. Even when we finally have time away, it can be difficult to slow down enough to ask bigger questions.

Questions like: What do I want from this next chapter? What parts of my work still energize me? What am I ready to rethink? What possibilities have I not yet considered?

Ongoing support creates dedicated space to explore those questions with someone who understands academic careers and the complexity of time away, transitions, and next chapters.

Ongoing support may be helpful if you…

  • Want space to explore bigger questions about your work and future
  • Are ready for change but need time to figure out the right direction
  • Want an experienced thought partner as you plan, navigate, or reflect on your time away
  • Have ideas you want to explore but need perspective and accountability
  • Want trusted support making intentional decisions over time

How It Works

We’ll begin by identifying what you’re hoping to explore and what would be most helpful in working with me, whether that’s planning a sabbatical, navigating a transition, exploring new possibilities, or just finding more space to think and sharing ideas with a trusted partner.

From there, we’ll determine a structure that fits your situation, including the anticipated length of our work together, meeting frequency and format, and areas of focus.

Because every person’s needs are different, pricing depends on the length and scope of our work together. We’ll discuss what makes the most sense for your situation during our initial conversation.

No matter the duration or focus of our work together, my support will include a mix of regular one-on-one conversations (via video or phone), email assistance for questions between meetings, personalized resources and exercises, and accountability as you move toward your goals.

Why I do this work

I’m Liz, a professor who believes in the benefits of stepping back from work to move forward. Over time, I’ve found that pushing harder in my work (and life) didn’t help me connect with what mattered or determine what work to pursue next. What helped was creating space – and using that space intentionally to arrive at my next chapter with greater purpose and clarity. These experiences shape the way I approach working with and supporting others.
